Saint Joseph Hospital Earns an A Grade for Patient Safety in Leapfrog's Fall 2016 Hospital Safety Score
November 01, 2016
For the second time in 2016, Saint Joseph Hospital has received an A rating for safety and quality from The Leapfrog Group, an independent nonprofit that evaluates hospital safety in the U.S. This is also the second time that Saint Joseph Hospital has earned an A rating since its integration with the hospital’s clinical partner, National Jewish Health, the nation’s leading respiratory hospital.
"We are extremely proud of this achievement and all of the hard work from our physicians, nurses and support staff that made it possible,” said Jamie Smith, President of Saint Joseph Hospital, “The Leapfrog Group’s ratings are among the most comprehensive and well respected in health care. An A rating demonstrates Saint Joseph’s commitment to excellence across our organization.”
For this most recent ratings period, The Leapfrog Group evaluated 2,633 hospitals on 30 different nationally-reported patient safety measures that indicate how well hospitals protect patients from preventable errors, injuries and infections. Of all hospitals evaluated, less than a third were able to achieve an A rating.
Saint Joseph Hospital attributes its two recent A ratings to the collaborative work of Saint Joseph Hospital staff, its work with National Jewish Health as well as other community partners that include Colorado Permanente Medical Group.
